Aladdin Mantles

Kone Cap Mantle Update: Aladdin is having problems with the adapter to use the R-150 Lox-On mantles with lamps that use N-146 Kone Kap mantle. My guess, it will be sometime in 2012 before it is avaliable.

After two and one half years of intense hard work by many dedicated people at the Aladdin Mantle Lamp Company, mantles are now available again.

The new R150 Aladdin Lox-On mantle has been greatly improved, too!

1. The mechanical strength or resistance to shock is the best ever and the new mantle should last twice as long as before thanks to improved engineering and chemical formulation.

2. New stainless steel wires are better than ever. The new wires are produced from type 308 stainless steel and should never burn through. Again, this is an improvement in quality that means more value for every Aladdin customer.

3. The light output is slightly lower than mantles produced in Malta, but this is truly not noticable to the human eye. Aladdin believes the greatly improved mechanical strength, which makes the mantle last much longer, more than offsets any loss of light and makes this the best Aladdin mantle value ever.

Most oil lamps use a flat wick and produce very little light. Aladdin Mantle Lamps use a round wick and mantle that glows brightly. Flat wick lamps produce light by the process of burning kerosene with an open flame. These lamps are essentially liquid fueled candles with bigger wicks. The larger the wick, the larger the flame. The Aladdin lamp produces four times more light per gallon of kerosene than flat wick lamps. The Aladdin mantle lamp produces a white light equivalent to 60 candlepower which most consumers prefer over the yellow light of the flat wick lamps.
